    Periodic exhibition about the era of the conquest of Hungary.

    National Museum of Hungary (Budapest, Múzeum krt. 14-16.) 03. 16. - 12. 31. 1996.
    Several different exhibitions have taken the era of Magyars conquering Hungary for their subject. The National Museum of Hungary, being the tabernacle of Hungarian cultural and artistic life, however offers the richest display of that era to its visitors, justly expecting a great volume of interest.

    Cognate nations and primeval "home countries" exhibition.

    Museum of Ethnography (Budapest, Kossuth tér 12.) 03. 30. - 10. 15. 1996.
    Where did we Magyars come from? Expeditions in search of our primeval home and the Finno-Ugrian linguistic affinity are proof of our common roots. This more or less common past is demonstrated through material relics of the peoples in the exhibition of the Museum of Ethnography.

    "Soaring Eagles". Archeological exhibition.

    Erkel Ferenc Museum (Gyula, Kossuth L. u. 17.) 03. 03. - 10. 30. 1996.
    Nation of acceptance - is how Hungary is often referred to. That is how it was at the times of our ancestors. This exhibition demonstartes the life of Jazigians, Cumans and Pechenegs settling in the Great Plains during historic times.

    "Sword and Cross". Exhibition in commemoration of the 1100th anniversary of the conquest of Hungary.

    Laczkó Dezső Museum (Veszprém, Erzsébet sétány 1.) 03. 15. - 12. 31. 1996.
    Through far from the ordinary archeological findings the everyday life of conquesting Magyars is brought to life. The weight of 1100 years of history is consolidated in the items, tools and cloths exhibited.

    "Mons sacer - The 1000 years of Pannonhalma". Exhibition of Hungarian history and the treasures of the Benedictine order.

    Benedictine Abbey (Pannonhalma, Vár u. 1.) 03. 21. - 12. 31. 1996.
    The Benedictine order played a determinant role in the religious and cultural life of Hungary. Significal historical events are related to the order and to its center, the Pannonhalma Abbey. The documents of historical events, and treasuries of the Benedictine order are also on display.

    "A nation living in yurtas". Archeological exhibition.

    County Cultural Center, Békéscsaba (Békéscsaba, Szent István tér 7.) 05. 15. - 10. 06. 1996.
    The southwestern region of the country also offers a rich collection of relics from the era of the Magyars. The organisers of this exhibition have compiled a wealth of treasures found in the county of Békés.

    Archeological findings of Vas County from the era of conquest and from the early times of the Árpád Dynasty.

    Museum of Regional History (Vasvár, Bartók B. u. 3.) 05. 28. - 12. 31. 1996.
    How was the life of those walking on the ground of this picturesque county in western Hungary 1000 years ago? The imagination of those visiting here will likely to be moved by the exhibition staged in the Museum of Natural History, Vasvár, from the artifacts, tools and clothing reviving the memory of our ancestors from the era of conquest and from the early times of the Árpád Dynasty.

    Buda Castle (Budapest, Kapisztrán tér 2-4.) 08. 20. - 12. 31. 1996.
    When taking a scroll in the Buda Castle district, one could not help but notice many spectacular sights so fascinating to the tourist, one of them being the historical walls surrounding the castle. Most of the residental buildings - preserved as historical monuments today - are in testimony of the first half of our thousand years of history. The labyrinth underneath one of these buildings is home to the Wax Museum, where in June the portray collection of the kings from the Árpád Dynasty will be on exhibit, as a new event.

    "From the state-foundation through the millenium". Permanent exhibition.

    National Museum of Hungary (Budapest, Múzeum krt. 14- 16.) 08. 19. - 12. 31. 1996.
    Even if you are short on time, visiting this exhibition alone will present a picture about this host country. It is superflous to describe the collection of the National Museum of Hungary. For a mere invitation it is enough to say that perhaps it provides the most comprehensive picture of the first 1000 years of the Hungarian State in Europaean history.

    "Secession - dawn of the 20th century". Civilisation history of the millenium and turn of the century.

    Museum of Applied Arts (Budapest, Üllői út 33-37.) 10. 25. - 12. 31. 1996.
    The building of the Museum of Fine Arts itself is an exciting style. This exhibition showing the vibrating and colourful environment and culture of secession, the turn of the century, is to be held in this building. It is a curiosity of cultural history for everybody, but mostly for history lovers.

    Establishing a new national heritage at the turn of the century.

    Museum of Fine Art (Budapest, Dózsa Gy. út 41.) 09. 20. - 12. 31. 1996.
    The architectural group consisting of the Millenium Monument, the Seven Chieftains Sculpture, The Museum of Fine Arts and the Art Gallery was all beautifully designed by Albert Schickedanz. This exhibition is in commemorating of the architect whose monumental creation can as well be interpreted as a summary of the stormy, yet glorious centuries of Hungarian history.
